Answer for: How will the closing of the downtown Starbucks affect you Missoula?
#3 I am sad to see this SBUX close
I know many people are glad too see this store close. I frequent this store quite often. I choose to go to Starbucks becasue I know that when I walk in the doors I can expect a quality drink along with a friendly greeting and/or conversation. I do support other locally owed coffee shops but often find them lacking in consistancy of the quality of the beverage and find the people behind the counter to be rude.

Couldn't agree with you more. "Local" shops are great. And, the Starbucks on N. Higgins is one of them. Friendly, professional staff and yet another business choosing to do its business in downtown Missoula.
It doesn't get much better than that.
"Go local" is great. Really. Local presence of all kinds helps Missoula to be... well, Missoula.
I agree with MTDesignGirl- Although it is great to support local and independent coffee houses, the quality of customer service at Starbucks is far better than their local competitors provide. The staff at Starbucks are friendly, accommodating and genuinely seem want your business. Too many local coffee houses (I'm sorry to say) have a poor attitude and act like it is a real chore to provide decent customer service. Frankly, it takes all the enjoyment out of the coffee experience.
It's sort of sad to see any business not make it in Missoula. Though it sounds like this closure was part of a larger corporate strategy to weed out weaker stores (200 of them). http://news.starbucks....2009_v3.pdf
