Did Glacier National Park officials make the right decision in killing the Old Man Lake grizzly? Add Answer

The Old Man Lake female grizzly bear had been a fixture in certain, popular backcountry spots in Glacier National Park for some time. Park officials killed the bear purposefully, while one of its two cubs succumbed to a tranquilizer dart. Did bear managers make the right decision? http://missoulian.com/...85831d.html

Wrong, But Necessary Due to Poor Management

If this sow has had a history of seeking out human habitations, I can't understand why officials did not do something about this, earlier, and I don't mean kill her. Maybe officials did all they could to train her not to go to human sites, using dogs, whatever. Couldn't she, early on, have been taken to a more remote location? I suppose cost was an issue.

No, I feel sorry for those bears. What they did was cruel.

They should have closed the campground for a few years.
